Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo could make a decision between the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics based on coaching

There are plenty of factors for Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo when it comes to deciding which team to play for next.

Most reports are suggesting he will choose between the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics. According to NBA insider Sam Amick of The Athletic, Antetokounmpo wants to play for an organization led by a strong coach.

Both the Celtics (Joe Mazzulla) and Heat (Erik Spoelstra) have established leaders.

"I think the theme between Boston and Miami is that Giannis is ready for a very serious organization," Amick said. "I think the praise of Joe Mazzulla speaks of that. I think he wants to be coached hard."

Antetokounmpo has spent the last 13 years with the Bucks, winning a championship (2021) and two MVPs. He's never played for a top-tier coach, which makes the Celtics and Heat ideal landing places. Spoelstra was named one of the top 15 coaches in league history while Mazzulla won Coach of the Year this season despite playing most of the year without star Jayson Tatum.

Antetokounmpo probably needs another championship to enter the all-time greats conversation. Both the Celtics and Heat are possibly one player from being a championship contender.

The Celtics would have to include All-Star Jaylen Brown in the trade for Antetokounmpo but still have Tatum. In Miami, Antetokounmp would pair with Bam Adebayo and All-Star Norman Powell Jr.

"Giannis, at this stage not only wants to contend, but it's almost the feeling you get is you're trying to be humble," Amick said. "Even with everything that you've accomplished you're looking in the mirror and saying, `I need somebody to push me and that's what it's going to take."'

If what Amick is saying is true, Spoelstra could be the key to bringing Antetokounmpo to Miami. It also helps that Pat Riley is still in control of the organization as the team president.
