The Charlotte Hornets keep stacking statements.

Charlotte’s latest win over the Dallas Mavericks wasn’t just another victory during a hot stretch. It made NBA history this season. The Hornets have now won five straight games by 15 points or more, becoming the first team in the league this year to accomplish that feat.

There's officially a level of consistency to what the Hornets have been doing that should be very affirming to any fans that might worry this run might eventually fizzle out.

Since the calendar flipped to 2026, the Hornets have quietly put together the best run of basketball in the NBA. Night after night, they’ve overwhelmed opponents with pace, spacing, and a defensive intensity that has turned comfortable wins into complete blowouts. The Mavericks became the latest team to experience it. Shoutout to PJ Washington making his return to Charlotte.

There was no Cooper Flagg or Klay Thompson last night for Dallas. A left midfoot sprain prevented us from getting an epic part two to Cooper vs. Kon after the thriller we saw go down to the wire in Dallas last month.

What stands out most about this stretch for Charlotte is how consistent the dominance has been. One lopsided win can happen. Two in a row might mean a team is playing well. But five straight victories by 15 or more points signals something entirely different — a team that has found a level few others can currently match.

The Hornets look connected on both ends of the floor. The ball moves freely, the floor is spaced with shooters, and defensively they’ve forced opponents into uncomfortable possessions all game long. When Charlotte gets rolling offensively, the avalanche comes quickly.

For much of the early parts of the season, the Hornets showed flashes of being an explosive team capable of scoring in bunches. Over the last few months, those flashes have turned into a sustained run that has caught the attention of the rest of the league. It's who the Hornets are now.

The Hornets now head to Boston for night two of a back to back with a Celtics team that's managed to be the second best team in the East despite not having Jayson Tatum yet this year.
