The Charlotte Hornets fell 123-113 to the Milwaukee Bucks Monday night at the Spectrum Center, snapping a two game win streak.
Kon Knueppel ended up missing the game after rolling his ankle during the win in Orlando. However, Brandon Miller stepped up in a big way leading the Hornets with a season-high performance — finishing with 31 points and eight rebounds — while LaMelo Ball added 26 points and seven assists in a dynamic outing for the home squad.
Lamelo Ball continues to impress since returning from ankle injury, averaging 21.6 points over the last six games.
However, Brandon Miller and Lamelo Ball would end up having to try and pick up the slack more than just for Kon Knueppel. Miles Bridges, who has been Mr. Reliable for Charlotte so far this year, left the game in the first quarter due to a right ankle injury.
The list now includes Miles Bridges, Lamelo Ball, Ryan Kalkbrenner, and Kon Knueppel that have dealt with ankle injuries this year for the Charlotte.
The Bucks would lead the majority of the second half and take it to the finish with a final score of 123-113. Bobby Portis lead the way in scoring for the Bucks with 26.
After the game, Charles Lee said that Miles Bridges will be evaluated today at practice and that this would give even more of an opportunity of growth for Tidjane Salaun who has impressed since being called back up from the Greensboro Swarm a couple weeks ago.
The good news is, the Hornets received a positive report on Kon Knueppel ahead of the matchup with the Bucks, being listed as day-to-day. With Charlotte being even more short handed now, there's a good chance you see Kon back in the lineup when the Hornets host the Golden State Warriors at home on New Year's Eve.
We knew the Charlotte Hornets were going through "growing pains" out on the basketball court in terms of needing to learn how to close games, do the things necessary to win more consistently, but the actual pains they've been having up and down the lineup so far this year is starting to just get comical.
