Brandon Miller and the Charlotte Hornets will have a winning season this year.
Brandon Miller and the Charlotte Hornets clinched a winning season after beating the Indiana Pacers on Friday.
It's the first time since the 2021-22 campaign that Charlotte will be above .500 and Brandon Miller is really proud of the team's accomplishment.
"That's a great achievement, but we all know our goal here," Miller said. "We've worked hard for a long time now, so just keep coming in every day with consistency and just keep playing together and do what we do. It'll take us a long way."
As of this writing, the Hornets are in eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings. If Charlotte finishes seventh, eighth, ninth or 10th, the team will be in the NBA play-in tournament.
As the seventh or eighth seed, the Hornets would have to win one play-in game to make the playoffs. They would have two chances.
As the ninth or 10th seed, Miller and Co. would have to win two games to make the playoffs. If they lose the first game, the season is over.
To automatically qualify for the playoffs, the Hornets have to be the sixth seed or better. Charlotte hasn't made the playoffs since 2016.
Miller is having a great season for the Hornets. The swingman is averaging 20.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 43.7% from the field, 39.2% from beyond the arc and 89.2% from the free-throw line.
With Kon Knueppel, LaMelo Ball, Miller and Miles Bridges leading the way, Charlotte has been on a tear since the All-Star break. It's been great to see the Hornets become relevant again under head coach Charles Lee.
"Charles has been great," Knueppel told Noa Dalzell of CelticsBlog. "He really preaches daily improvement. So even when you know the losses were stacking up early in the season, it was really just about continuing to get better each day. And I think going into each day with that mindset, living in the present, is really good, especially for our young team."
It will be fascinating to see if the Hornets make the playoffs this season. The team has been on a tear since the All-Star break.
