After the Charlotte Hornets beat the Boston Celtics in Boston on Wednesday, Brandon Miller was asked to give his honest thoughts about new Charlotte guard Coby White.
The Hornets acquired White from the Chicago Bulls and are 4-0 with the UNC product in the lineup.
White is averaging 13.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game in a Hornets uniform while shooting 43.6% from the field, 37.5% from beyond the arc and 77.8% from the free-throw line. He has fit in well with his new teammates in a short amount of time.
Charlotte improved to 32-31 after beating Boston. Charles Lee's group is the hottest team in the NBA. The Hornets have won six games in a row and are 7-3 over their last 10 games.
"I think (our players) did a great job of controlling what they could control. Embracing a little travel advisory and again, just focusing on the things we could control, which was going to be our competitiveness, our ability to focus and communicate throughout the game, to respond to some of the runs that (Boston) went on and then ultimately do it all together. I think that’s what our group did throughout the whole night," Lee said after Charlotte beat Boston.
Miller leads Charlotte in scoring. The talented swingman is averaging 20.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game and shooting 43.2% overall, 37.7% from 3 and 88.8% from the foul line.
With White, Miller, Miles Bridges, LaMelo Ball and Kon Knueppel leading the way, Charlotte is on track to make the NBA play-in tournament this season. Seeds 1-6 automatically make the playoffs, while seeds 7-10 participate in the play-in tournament.
Seeds 7 and 8 only need to win one game to make the playoffs, while seeds 9 and 10 need to win two.
It will be fascinating to see if the Hornets can make the playoffs this season for the first time since 2016.
