Charlotte Hornets forward Brandon Miller underwent surgery.

The Charlotte Hornets announced on Wednesday that forward Brandon Miller underwent surgery to address left shoulder instability.

Miller is expected to make a full recovery. He will be out indefinitely and additional updates on his status will be provided as appropriate.

The 23-year-old Miller appeared in 65 games for the Hornets this season. He averaged 20.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 43.5% from the field, 38.3% from beyond the arc and 89.2% from the free-throw line.

Charlotte went 44-38 in 2025-26. Miller and Co. beat the Miami Heat in the 9-10 play-in game at home but lost to the Orlando Magic in the 8-9 play-in game on the road.

The Hornets haven't made the playoffs since 2016, but they have a bright future with Miller, LaMelo Ball and Kon Knueppel leading the way.

Miller was the second overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft out of Alabama. The swingman has career averages of 19.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.

The Hornets can sign Miller to a rookie-scale extension this offseason. Miller will make $15,104,626 next season.

If Miller and Charlotte don't agree to a rookie-scale extension, Miller will become a restricted free agent in the summer of 2027.
