Charlotte Hornets forward Grant Williams went viral for this news.
Charlotte Hornets forward Grant Williams announces major news on Tuesday.
Williams got engaged to his partner, Kiki Milloy.
Williams appeared in 36 games for the Hornets this season after recovering from his ACL tear. The veteran averaged 7.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game while shooting 42.6% from the field, 38.8% from beyond the arc and 81.5% from the free-throw line.
During an interview with Noa Dalzell of CelticsBlog, Kon Knueppel spoke about how important Grant Williams was to the Hornets this season.
Williams went to the NBA Finals in 2022 with the Boston Celtics. None of the Hornets' core players have been to the playoffs, which is why Williams is so critical for Charlotte's locker room.
"He's been really, really good for us rookies, really good to us, making us feel comfortable, taking us out to dinner, paying for dinner when he doesn't have to, making us feel welcome," Knueppel said. "So, he's been phenomenal.
"He's been a really good friend. He talks about it a lot – just the standard that we have to hold ourselves to, and how it's going to be in the playoffs, committing to what we do, and our identity on a nightly basis is important. He really, really talks about that a lot."
The Hornets missed the playoffs this year by one game. The team has a bright future, though, with Knueppel, Brandon Miller and LaMelo Ball leading the way.
Williams will make $14,265,750 next season in the final year of his contract. He has career averages of 7.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game with the Celtics, Dallas Mavericks and Hornets.
Charlotte has two picks in the first round of the 2026 NBA Draft. After selecting four rotation players a year ago, the Hornets have another opportunity to deepen their roster this year.
