Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball got into a car crash.

Charlotte Hornets star LaMelo Ball was involved in a car accident on Wednesday when his camouflage-colored, custom-made Hummer collided with another vehicle.

Ball got into a black Lamborghini after the accident and left the scene. Multiple reports have said that the Hornets guard was allowed to leave the scene after police arrived.

"Fortunately, everybody is cool, so blessings," Ball. "God is great."

Asked why he left the scene, Ball said, "Nah, you gotta check in on that. I'm alive and blessed. God is great, like I said."

The Hornets lost to the Houston Rockets on Thursday. Ball played 31 minutes and finished with 11 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. He shot 5-of-14 from the field and 1-of-6 from 3.

Charlotte lost to Houston by a final score of 105-101 to drop to 26-30 on the season. Ball has appeared in 46 games this season. He's averaging 19.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 7.4 assists per game and shooting 40.0% overall, 36.0% from beyond the arc and 88.5% from the foul line.

The Hornets are in 10th place in the Eastern Conference standings. They would face the Atlanta Hawks in the 9-10 NBA play-in tournament game if the regular season ended today.

Charlotte hasn't made the playoffs since 2016. Ball was the third overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. He holds career averages of 20.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 7.4 assists per game, which are great numbers, but the Hornets have had just one winning record in the Ball era.

The Hornets signed Ball to a massive five-year, $203 million contract in 2023. Ball is making $37.9 million this season. He is set to make $40.8 million next season.
