Hornets Announce Massive Grant Williams News cover image

Charlotte Hornets veteran Grant Williams is back.

The Charlotte Hornets announced that veteran forward Grant Williams is probable to play against the Utah Jazz on Saturday.

Williams has recovered from his ACL tear.

Williams tore his ACL last season. He averaged 10.4 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game during the 2024-25 season before tearing his left ACL.

The Hornets acquired Williams from the Dallas Mavericks during the 2023-24 season. Williams has appeared in 45 games with Charlotte. He's averaging 12.6 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game.

A Tennessee product, Williams has played for the Boston Celtics, Mavericks and Hornets. He has career averages of 7.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.

The Hornets are 13-25. They are in 12th place in the Eastern Conference standings. Entering the Jazz game, Charlotte is 19th in the NBA in points per game, 20th in points per game allowed, 12th in offensive rating, 23rd in defensive rating and 19th in net rating.

Charlotte hasn't made the playoffs since 2016. That will likely not change this season.

Many people around the NBA believe the Hornets should trade LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges and build around talented forwards Brandon Miller and Kon Kon Knueppel. The 2026 NBA trade deadline is next month, so it will be fascinating to see what Charlotte's front office does with Ball and Bridges.
