The Charlotte Hornets are a snakebitten franchise.

There was actually hope for the Charlotte Hornets entering the 2025-26 NBA campaign, and there is no question they have shown flashes. But can we really trust them?

The Hornets have been one of the worst organizations in American professional sports for quite some time now, so it's going to take a while for them to regain serious relevance.

Charlotte has actually put together a very solid young nucleus centered around LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller, but its biggest problem in recent years has been Ball's inability to stay healthy. And now, Miller is hurt once again.

Miller — who played in just 27 games last season due to a wrist injury — suffered a shoulder injury just two games into the season, and it was recently revealed that it was a shoulder subluxation. As for a timetable? The Hornets don't really have one yet.

"He will continue his rehabilitation program while he remains out," the Hornets announced. "The third-year guard will be re-evaluated in two weeks. Additional updates on his status will be provided as appropriate."

So, basically, Charlotte does not know when Miller will be back, which is truly a crushing blow considering just how good he was when he was on the floor last year.

In the time that Miller did play during his sophomore campaign, he averaged 21 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.6 assists over 34.2 minutes a night on 40.3/35.5/86.1 shooting splits.

Yes, the percentages definitely left something to be desired, but the fact that he was posting 21 points per game during his second season was truly impressive, especially considering the lack of overall help he had.

The 22-year-old, who played his collegiate basketball at the University of Alabama, was selected by the Hornets with the No. 2 overall pick of the 2023 NBA Draft.

Miller posted 17.3 points and 4.5 boards across 32.2 minutes per game during his rookie campaign while shooting 44 percent from the floor, 37.3 percent from three-point range and 82.7 percent from the free-throw line.

Charlotte has not made the playoffs since 2016 and has only made three postseason appearances since 2005. Its last playoff series victory? All the way back in 2002.

The Hornets haven't been able to get out of their own way over the past couple of decades, and now that they are finally building something, injuries strike. Again.

Charlotte is 3-4 on the season and will face the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night.
