Major Charlotte Hornets, Kon Knueppel News Emerges cover image

This is big news for Charlotte Hornets rookie Kon Knueppel.

According to NBA insider Chris Haynes, Charlotte Hornets rookie Kon Knueppel has accepted the league's invitation to participate in the 3-Point Contest at All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles.

Knueppel is one of the top shooters in the NBA.

Knueppel is shooting 42.5% from beyond the arc this season. He has made 166 3s in 50 games.

A Duke product, Knueppel is averaging 18.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game while shooting 48.2% from the field and 89.2% from the free-throw line. He is the best rookie in the Eastern Conference.

Knueppel has been named Kia NBA Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month for January. The swingman led all rookies in total points (302), field goals made (105), 3-pointers made (45) and free throws made (47) and ranked fourth in rebounds (101) and assists (62).

Knueppel joins LaMelo Ball, Raymond Felton, Larry Johnson, Brandon Miller and Emeka Okafor as the only players in franchise history to win three Rookie of the Month awards. No rookie in franchise history has earned the award more than three times.

The Hornets are 23-28 on the season. They are in 11th place in the Eastern Conference standings but just one game back of the 10th spot. Seeds 7-10 make the NBA play-in tournament.
