The NBA announced on Friday that Charlotte Hornets forward Kon Knueppel has been named the Kia Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month for games played in December.
Knueppel won the award in November as well.
In 12 games in December, Knueppel averaged 20.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game while shooting 50.0% from the field, 46.2% from beyond the arc and 90.3% from the free-throw line.
Here are some other stellar Knueppel stats, via Hornets PR:
"Knueppel leads all rookies in 3-pointers made (117) and 3-point percentage (.432 3P%), and ranks in the top three in total points (617), field goals made (214), assists (115) and minutes played (1,059) while ranking 5th in rebounds (164). He led all rookies in points per game in December (19.3) and is one of two rookies (Cooper Flagg) with three 30-point performances this season. Knueppel recorded a career-high 33 points and a career-high-tying nine assists against Chicago on Dec. 12.
"On Dec. 22, Knueppel became the fastest player in NBA history to reach 100 career 3-pointers made, breaking the previous record of 41 games (Lauri Markkanen, 2017-18) by doing so in just his 29th game. He broke Stephen Curry’s rookie record for most games with 20-plus points on 50/40/90 shooting splits (12) while facing off with Curry and the Warriors on New Year’s Eve. This season, Knueppel ranks third in the NBA in 3-pointers made, trailing only Curry and Donovan Mitchell.
"Knueppel is one of seven qualified players in the NBA averaging at least 15 points and five rebounds per game while shooting above 40 percent from beyond the arc, including Nikola Jokic, Kevin Durant, Jimmy Butler III and others. Among the group, he ranks third in 3-point percentage and is the only player with 100 3-pointers made this season."
On the season, Knueppel is averaging 19.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. The Duke product is shooting 48.2% overall, 43.2% from 3 and 90.0% from the foul line.
The Hornets are only 11-22, but at least they have a future star in Knueppel.
