Charlotte Hornets star Brandon Miller could be in line for a major extension with the franchise.
Charlotte Hornets star Brandon Miller is entering the final year of his rookie contract ahead of the 2026-27 season. Miller will be a restricted free agent if he doesn't reach an extension with the Hornets.
With how Miller has played over the last couple of seasons, he could ink a major contract extension with Charlotte. NBA insiders Marc Stein and Jake Fischer revealed that Miller's contract could exceed five years and $200 million.
Miller has been a key part of the Hornets' core, alongside young star Kon Knueppel. He has continued to get better throughout his first three years in the NBA. In his rookie season, Miller averaged 17.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game, shooting 44 percent from the field and 37.3 percent from three.
In the 2024-25 season, Miller averaged 21 points per game along with 4.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 40.3 percent from the floor and 35.5 percent from deep.
The 23-year-old was more efficient as a scorer in the 2025-26 season, averaging 20.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and a steal per game, shooting 43.5 percent from the field and 38.3 percent from behind the arc.

Miller and Knueppel will now be the leaders for the Hornets on a team with a ton of young talent and some veterans. Coby White will also play a key role, as he takes over the starting point guard position for Ball.
White inked a three-year, $74 million deal this offseason after appearing in 21 games for Charlotte after they acquired him at the trade deadline. White averaged 15.6 points, three rebounds, and three assists per game, shooting 46.1 percent from the floor and 39.1 percent from distance, proving to be a great spark.
With Ball gone, the Hornets will need their primary offensive pieces, Miller, Knueppel, and White, to step up as playmakers. Ball was a very talented playmaker for Charlotte, getting his teammates involved, as he averaged 7.1 assists per game in the 2025-26 season.
Charlotte retooled their roster heavily this offseason, but they have a ton of young talent and the talent to make it into the Play-In Tournament for a second straight season for a chance to reach the postseason.
