This NBA trade proposal sends a Los Angeles Clippers player to the Charlotte Hornets this offseason.

An NBA trade proposal between the Charlotte Hornets and Los Angeles Clippers has been created.

NBA writer Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report proposed the following offseason trade proposal between the Hornets and Clippers:

Charlotte Hornets Receive: F Derrick Jones Jr.

Los Angeles Clippers Receive: G/F Josh Green, 2029 second-round pick

Jones Jr. is one of the best two-way players in the NBA. He's also one of the most athletic wings in the league. Pairing him with LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller and Kon Knueppel would make the Hornets more dangerous on both sides of the ball.

"The Hornets have played really good basketball over the last few months, although this roster is short on playoff experience and defensive-minded wings," Swartz wrote. "Jones would check both these boxes, as the 29-year-old brings 51 games of postseason battles with five different franchises, including a run to the NBA Finals with the Dallas Mavericks as a starter in 2024."

For the Clippers this season, Jones Jr. is averaging 11.0 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 51.6% from the field, 36.8% from beyond the arc and 77.0% from the free-throw line.

Jones Jr. will make $10,476,190 next season in the final year of his contract. He's on a very team-friendly contract.

A UNLV product, Jones Jr. has played for the Phoenix Suns, Miami Heat, Portland Trail Blazers, Chicago Bulls, Dallas Mavericks and Clippers. The high-flier holds career averages of 7.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.

Is Jones Jr. a star? No. But he's a skillful role player who has helped every team he's been on win. The Hornets need more shooters and defenders around Ball, Knueppel and Miller and Jones Jr. fits that bill to a T.
