An NBA trade proposal sending Karl-Anthony Towns to the Charlotte Hornets has been created.
The New York Knicks have discussed a Karl-Anthony Towns trade with three teams, according to NBA reporter Steve Popper of Newsday.
The three teams are the Memphis Grizzlies, Orlando Magic and Charlotte Hornets.
With Popper's reporting in mind, NBA writer James Piercey of DallasHoopsJournal created the following trade proposal between the Hornets and Knicks:
Hornets get: Karl-Anthony Towns
Knicks get: Miles Bridges, Collin Sexton, Josh Green, 2031 First-Round Pick (CHA)
Towns is making $53.1 million this season. He doesn't have a no-trade clause in his contract.
This NBA trade proposal pairs Towns with LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller and Kon Knueppel. That looks like a dangerous "Big 4" on paper.
"Adding Towns could boost the Offensive Rating a few spots higher," Piercey wrote. "If that happened, and the defense stagnated, the Hornets would be a formidable team that could even win a playoff series. If they made this deal and spent their summer targeting defensive upgrades, who knows what they could accomplish next summer?
"This organization has not been relevant for some time. A group of Towns, LaMelo Ball, Kon Knueppel, and Brandon Miller would represent one of the most talented foursomes in the NBA."
A five-time All-Star, Towns is averaging 21.0 points, 11.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game this season while shooting 46.7% from the field, 35.8% from beyond the arc and 85.9% from the free-throw line. He has 29 double-doubles.
The Hornets are in 12th place in the Eastern Conference standings. They haven't made the playoffs since 2016. Acquiring Towns would give Charlotte a great chance to compete for the NBA play-in tournament.
Towns has played for the Minnesota Timberwolves and Knicks. He holds career averages of 22.9 points, 11.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. He has made three All-NBA teams.
The 2026 NBA trade deadline is February 5 at 3 p.m. ET. It will be fascinating to see if the Hornets make a blockbuster trade for Towns, who doesn't have a good relationship with Knicks head coach Mike Brown.
