How will the starting lineup for the Charlotte Hornets look this coming season?
The Charlotte Hornets will be coming into the new NBA season ready to kick off a new era of the franchise.
Star guard LaMelo Ball is gone after being traded over the offseason, with forward Miles Bridges also being moved. This now gives the Hornets a young movement going forward, and the organization is excited to see how the year comes together.
Young forwards Brandon Miller and Kon Knueppel are the two faces of the franchise now, with the team surrounding them with quality role players. Miller is seen as the top option for the Hornets, and he will have plenty of extra responsibility on his shoulders.
With Ball gone, Miller may need to take on more of the playmaking duties this year, expanding his overall game. But whether he can do this remains to be seen, but it could be massive for Charlotte's chances.
As for Knueppel, he could miss the first part of the NBA season after suffering a hamstring injury. Charlotte isn't overly concerned about the injury to the forward, but it could sideline him for a few weeks.
Entering the year, Charlotte has plenty of talent on the roster, and this group will be looking to compete for the playoffs. But what does the starting lineup look like for the Hornets?
Predicting the Hornets Starting Lineup
For the Hornets, they do have options when it comes to the starting lineup this coming season. But the injury to Knueppel does limit them slightly, at least to open the year.
With Knueppel out for right now, the best lineup that the Hornets can throw out to open games should look like this:
Coby White, Grayson Allen, Brandon Miller, Naz Reid and Moussa Diabate
White stays with the team after coming over in a trade last season, and he will be given the keys to running the offense. Charlotte is very excited to see what he can do this season, and the veteran guard should only add to the team's scoring ability.
Both Allen and Reid are newcomers to the team, with the Hornets' front office adding in more players who can play defense over the summer. Reid was the main piece that the team acquired in the Ball trade, and he will now be given a starting role for Charlotte in all likelihood.
Having players like Reid and Allen, who can play both ends of the field, should help the Hornets be a much more well-rounded team this season. Charlotte's offense was one of the best in the NBA last year, but the defense was lacking, causing all sorts of problems.
But this year, Charlotte will be trying to work on this, and if they can do so, the payoffs could be in the cards. This Hornets team is coming into the season hungry, ready to show what they can do in this new era for the team.
