According to NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN, the Charlotte Hornets have acquired point guard Tyus Jones from the Orlando Magic.
This comes after the Hornets traded Collin Sexton to the Chicago Bulls for Coby White.
Jones is making $7 million this season. He becomes an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
A Duke product, Jones is averaging 3.0 points, 1.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game this season while shooting 34.2% from the field, 29.4% from beyond the arc and a perfect 100.0% from the free-throw line.
Jones, 29, has played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Memphis Grizzlies, Washington Wizards, Phoenix Suns and Magic. He holds career averages of 7.4 points, 2.0 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game.
The Hornets are 23-28. They are in 11th place in the Eastern Conference standings. Seeds 7-10 make the NBA play-in tournament. Charlotte is one game back of Chicago for the 10th spot.
