A team from the West is interested in trading for a player on the Charlotte Hornets.

According to NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopHype, a Western Conference team is interested in trading for a player on the Charlotte Hornets

The Minnesota Timberwolves, in need of a point guard, have expressed interest in Hornets guard Collin Sexton, who is in the final year of his contract.

The Hornets acquired Sexton from the Utah Jazz last season. Sexton is making $18.9 million next season.

Minnesota is a championship contender with All-Stars Anthony Edwards, Rudy Gobert and Julius Randle leading the way. Meanwhile, Charlotte will miss the playoffs again this season.

Sexton is 27. He's never been to the playoffs. The Alabama product is better suited to play for a winner at this stage of his career.

Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group is Sexton's agent. As most basketball fans know, Paul has a history of getting his clients to places they want to be. With that said, it will be interesting to see if Sexton is traded at the 2026 trade deadline, which is next week.

Sexton is averaging 14.6 points, 1.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game this season while shooting 49.2% from the field, 38.0% from beyond the arc and 87.3% from the free-throw line.

A rugged defender, Sexton has played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Jazz and Hornets. He holds career averages of 18.5 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.

Sexton doesn't have a no-trade clause in his contract, so he can't force his way out of Charlotte. There are also no rumors stating that Sexton is looking to get traded by the Hornets, who are coached by Charles Lee.
