The Hornets Roundtable Podcast Breaks Down Preseason Opener Over Oklahoma City Thunder.
Josh Graham and Will Dalton co-hosts the Hornets Roundtable podcast, which will release new episodes every week on the site. Here were the topics discussed on this week’s pod:
- NBA Finals champion vs. Summer League champion. The Charlotte Hornets had most of their core players available — while the Oklahoma City Thunder did not — yet Charlotte fell 135-114.
- Kon Knueppel's preseason start. Even though veteran newcomer Collin Sexton was in the lineup, Charlotte coach Charles Lee decided to start the fourth overall pick out of Duke instead. The podcast discusses whether this is an indicator about what the opening-night starting lineup will be.
- Charlotte's nomadic preseason schedule. While the Spectrum Center finishes up renovations, the Hornets are playing their home preseason games away from home. Sunday's loss to OKC was held in Charleston, South Carolina. Next Wednesday's matchup with Memphis will be played at the First Horizon Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina.
- Eric Colllins growing star. It's clear the Hornets' popular play-by-play announcer is beginning to draw national attention. This Sunday, Collins called his first NFL game —fittingly, it was Panthers-Dolphins in Charlotte — and the broadcast was well received. Additionally. Collins calls a nationally-televised college football game each week for FOX Sports, which included UNC-UCF last month, and he work a package of NBA games for Amazon starting this season.
- Predicting the Hornets lineups and rotations. Who will be the starting center? Could Charlotte go small?
In addition to the Hornets Roundtable Podcast, Graham and Dalton will also host weekly podcasts for other local teams in the state of North Carolina.
Elsewhere in Charlotte, they will host a weekly podcast focused on the Carolina Panthers. In the collegiate ranks, they will also host podcasts covering UNC and Duke athletics.
