From high school pioneer to Utah’s franchise guard, the scoring sensation joins the elite ranks of LeBron and KD with a historic partnership signaling a generational takeover.

Utah Jazz rookie Darryn Peterson has signed a major long‑term endorsement deal with Adidas, according to reporting from Nick DePaula.

The agreement puts Peterson, who was the No. 2 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, as one of the brand’s next flagship athletes and continues a partnership that began long before his name was called on draft night.

“I am grateful for the belief and trust that Adidas has in me,” Peterson said. “They were the first to commit to me and showed how much they still believe in me with this new deal. I am a loyal person and am excited to stay in the Adidas family.”

Back in 2023, the 16-year-old Peterson became the first high‑school basketball player ever to sign an NIL deal with the company, and that partnership continued with Adidas during his freshman season at Kansas.

The new contract is further evidence of Adidas’ long‑term bet on Peterson’s potential. While exact financial terms were not disclosed, DePaula reports that the total value places Peterson’s contract in the top 5 richest rookie shoe deals in league history, which normally is a tier that only surefire generational talents reach.

To put that into context, that group includes notable names like LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Zion Williamson and Anthony Edwards.

From the Jazz’s perspective, the deal further highlights the magnitude of the player they just drafted. Peterson was widely viewed as the best scorer in the class, and his marketability has matched his on-court play at every level. Adidas’ sustained investment in him, from high school to the Wasatch Mountains, is nothing short of a glowing endorsement of who he is as an athlete and a brand, and for a team entering a new era, that’s exactly what is needed.

Darryn Peterson is not just the Jazz’s new franchise guard, but rather he’s now one of Adidas’ cornerstone athletes and one of the most valuable rookies in NBA endorsement history.
