Sacramento watched Plowden become the surprise scoring leader. But the Kings endured a rather forgetful night in Charlotte.

The Sacramento Kings witnessed Daeqwon Plowden become the surprise leading scorer on a night DeMar DeRozan and Maxime Raynaud was on the floor.

But while Plowden dropped 22 points, the Charlotte Hornets pummeled the Kings 134-90 on Tuesday night inside the Spectrum Center.

Plowden became immediately available after dealing with some foot soreness. Yet he was the only one listed as such with Sacramento having an astonishing nine guys out for the game. That included Russell Westbrook and Nique Clifford due to both having foot soreness. Killian Hayes became one more who was a scratch due to a similar ailment.

Plowden took advantage of the opportunity in consistently charging the floor. His 22 now represents a new career-high for the veteran.

"Daeqwon Plowden looks more and more like a keeper every time he gets extended burn. Plowden was the Kings' bench scorer in this one, finishing the game with a career-high 22 points on 9-for-17 shooting," Kings insider James Ham of ESPN 1320 AM Sacramento posted on the social media website X, formerly known as Twitter.

Plowden also added one alley oop dunk while in transition.

Plowden is currently on a two-way contract with the Kings which means he can also have stints with the franchise's G-League affiliate. He also likely played his way into a spot for next season's roster as the Kings continue to spark theories of landing a high top draft pick inside the top five.

But he became one of only three Sacramento players to reach past double figures. The second-leading scorer was another surprise.

Devin Carter added 18 points to follow Plowden. And Carter hit his marks on 7-of-15 shooting in 34 total minutes of action. He grabbed three rebounds and dished out three assists.

Raynaud ended his night scoring 16 points on 6-of-14 shooting. He also pulled down seven rebounds.

Malik Monk was limited on the scoring end this time around after dropping 32 points on the Brooklyn Nets back on Sunday. Monk settled for only seven points. But he became more of a force as a facilitator, leading the way with 14 assists there.

Doug McDermott scored nine points while DeRozan settled for only seven. Dylan Cardwell added just six points in the losing effort.
