DeMar DeRozan Endures Heated Moment as Miami Holds Off Sacramento cover image

DeRozan led with 23 points but the Kings lose their second straight on Tuesday night.

DeMar DeRozan scored 23 points to lead the Sacramento Kings, but became the center of a heated moment during the 130-117 loss to Miami.

Captured by Sean Cunningham of Sactown 1140 AM, DeRozan exchanged some fiery words with Pelle Larson of the Heat -- leading to a flagrant.

"The DeMar DeRozan vs. Pelle Larsson exchange of words and extra curriculars reaching peak level with a hard foul by DeRozan," Cunningham posted on the social media website X, formerly known as Twitter.

The call got reviewed and DeRozan earned a flagrant 1 after the review. Video also surfaced of the moment.

The game indeed intensified even before Larsson and DeRozan went at it. The Kings star and Bam Adebayo were face-to-face following this moment:

Needless to say, Tuesday night didn't involve pleasantries on both sides. Larsson ended his night scoring 16 points on 7-of-9 field goal shooting. He also dished out nine assists and grabbed six rebounds.

DeRozan, again, still led the scoring charge but took a seat on the bench at the 1:24 mark. He ended his evening hitting 6-of-12 field goals while adding five assists and four rebounds.

Russell Westbrook joined the veteran in surpassing the 20-point mark -- settling for 22 points and pulling down seven rebounds. Westbrook, however, committed six turnovers on the evening.

Zach LaVine reached past double figures too in dropping 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting. LaVine hit a trio of threes on four attempts plus created five assists.

Malik Monk sparked the bench energy in scoring 18 points -- now handing him a combined 41 points in the last two games. Monk, though, entered the Golden 1 Center hearing renewed trade chatter...this time with fellow Kings teammate Keon Ellis

Speaking of Ellis, he noticeably wasn't on the floor. He became ruled as a healthy did not participate from head coach Doug Christie. Ellis and Monk have battled for playing time in reserve duty.

Nique Clifford tacked on nine points for Sacramento off the bench. Domantas Sabonis had a relatively quiet night after some impressive back-to-back outings -- hitting just six points off minutes. But he reeled in 10 rebounds.

Maxime Raynaud ended the night with seven points and snatched eight rebounds. Dylan Cardwell scored four points yet led the Kings with 12 rebounds.
