Kings Land on Wrong Side of Season-High in Loss to Warriors cover image

Sacramento witnessed a new mark hit, but the not the kind to be proud of against Golden State.

The Sacramento Kings witnessed a new season-high hit on Friday night while one hour and 33 minutes southwest from their home.

Except they landed on the wrong side of this accolade against the Golden State Warriors -- allowing a season-worst in total points by taking the 137-103 loss at the Chase Center.

Wearing their City Edition jerseys, the Warriors went straight into an attack mode, taking a 13-4 lead out the gate. Steph Curry scored six early points -- while even wearing the famed DaDa silver shoes famously worn by Kings legend Chris Webber. The past Kings great wore the kicks for the 2002 NBA All-Star game; the same season Sacramento went to its first Western Conference Finals but lost to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Aside from the special shoes, Russell Westbrook and Keon Ellis sliced that nine point lead to three -- hitting consecutive three-pointers from under 27-feet. Nine became the biggest lead Golden State built early on.

Malik Monk kicked off the second quarter in getting his running layup inside the hoop. Monk followed with an alley-oop dunk on the subsequent Sacramento offensive possession. He then lifted the Kings ahead 35-34 by executing one more runner for the layup.

DeMar DeRozan then elevated the lead to three by nailing a 16-foot pullup jump shot. Draymond Green eventually closed the half by banking a 25-foot three, making it 63-59 in favor of GSW.

DeRozan's 18-footer started the early third quarter scoring off a Maxime Raynaud assist. He followed with a running layup before Westbrook tied things up with his own. Zach LaVine later came through on a four-foot floating jump shot that tied it 67-67.

But that was the last time Sacramento tied the game. And the closest Sacramento got was one (81-80) with 4:07 left. GSW closed the third on a 16-4 run.

The Warriors blew the game open in the fourth by outscoring Sacramento 40-19 in the final period. Dylan Cardwell ended the Kings' scoring drought at the 11:11 mark with a four-foot layup. But the rout was already on.

DeRozan led with 24 points, but no one on the Kings scored past 20. LaVine and Dennis Schroeder each scored 15 apiece. Westbrook scored 13 on the evening. Raynaud and Monk finished with eight.

Sacramento has now lost seven in a row.
