Kings Tie All-Time Losing Skid Mark as Jazz Pummels Sacramento cover image

Sacramento now has tied a past franchise mark last seen during the early 1970s.

Maxime Raynaud threw down the first points of the night for the Sacramento Kings. But that became one of the last highlights, as the franchise tied an unsettling mark on Wednesday.

Sacramento officially lost its 14th consecutive game in taking the 121-93 lopsided defeat at the hands of the Utah Jazz.

Raynaud took to the rim and threw down the two-handed jam to start the night. The prized rookie even delivered the dunk in front of a notable fan who took in the action inside the Delta Center.

BYU star AJ Dybantsa watched from courtside and even interacted with DeMar DeRozan. Dybantsa earned the night off from Cougars basketball and was fresh off dropping 36 points against Baylor on Tuesday.

Many Kings fans are already envisioning Dybantsa landing at No. 1 to Sacramento once the NBA Draft Lottery takes place. Sacramento still needs to pull off the win once May 10 rolls around, as it's the date when the draft order gets unveiled.

Sacramento can sure use more three-point defense even if Dybantsa isn't in the picture. Utah nailed 15 baskets from behind the arc to help bury the Kings.

DeRozan led the scoring charge with 20 points. He played with more composure following a water bottle throwdown incident against the New Orleans Pelicans. DeRozan took out his frustrations on the water bottle during the third quarter which forced the court to get mopped.

Devin Carter, meanwhile, emerged as a positive highlight by dropping 19 points -- now a career-high mark.

But Utah took advantage of countless defensive lapses by the Kings. The Jazz outscored the visitors 25-6 on fastbreak points inside the Delta Center. Utah pummeled Sacramento inside too in producing 58 points in the paint (Sacramento settled for 42).

Raynaud's slam was the only time Sacramento led by two. The Kings led two other times by one before Utah pulled away in significant fashion, even leading by 36 at one point.

This losing streak officially ties the mark previously held by the Cincinnati Royals before they became Sacramento. That Cincy team lost 14 straight twice -- the latest from the 1971-1972 season.

Utah's win also placed Sacramento at 12-44 ahead of the NBA All-Star break for Valentine's Day weekend. The Kings have until Thursday, Feb. 19 inside the Golden 1 Center to figure out how to avoid a franchise record 15 straight losses.
