Scott Perry, Doug Christie Dish Out This Kings Message cover image

The general manager and head coach continue to get ripped for this season's struggles, leading to both sending out this type of encouragement.

The beam is losing its illumination above the Sacramento Kings' home venue. Fans have walked out or even checked out of this season already as the losses pile up.

Sacramento now got blasted against New Orleans in the tank for a lottery pick battle on Monday night 120-94. The Pelicans just handed the Kings their 13th straight loss -- the worst skid since 1985 when the team moved to California's state capitol.

General manager Scott Perry and head coach Doug Christie have heard the blame game throughout this lost season. The duo, more so the latter, have gotten ripped for how the Kings use their players

But both fired off a message before the Monday night showdown directed toward restless fans.

“We’re at the extremely early stages of laying the foundation here,” said Perry via Jason Anderson of the Sacramento Bee.

Perry then dropped two "P" words tied to the message he's trying to send.

“You’ve heard the phrase from me, prudent and patient," Perry said. "That’s how it has to be if you want to create a foundation of sustainable winning like what we want to do, so we’re not going to do anything out of panic."

Yet, is the negative chatter around the Kings being heard loud and clear at Perry? Fans have remained vocal -- especially after Perry missed out on making more splach NBA Trade Deadline Moves.

“There’s a lot of outside noise that comes throughout the year, especially during the trade deadline, but I’ve been around long enough. I’m an experienced enough person in this position that I’m not going to allow that to sway any of our decision making or do anything out of panic and make what I would call bad decisions," Perry said.

The first-year GM is optimistic. The former Kings star from the early 2000s, meanwhile, shares the positive outlook too.

"The garden does not grow overnight,” Christie said via Anderson. “You’ve got to go and pick the weeds. You’ve got to tend to the garden. You’ve to water it. You’ve got to care for it, and when there’s bugs and stuff, you’ve got to get those out, too."

He's also into the "patience and prudence" message Perry is instilling inside the locker room.

“All that stuff goes into play, and as we go through this, the patience and prudence is going to be something that we stand on, and at the end of that tunnel you see the light," Christie said. "When you come through that we’ll be in a good place based upon all the pillars and the standard that we are standing on.”
