March Madness heads into its most intense and intriguing weekend yet. Which should also involve the Sacramento Kings tuning in for these games.
The Sacramento Kings are thinking about two things as of Wednesday.
One: Finishing out the season, regardless of final overall record.
Two: Visualizing the 2026 NBA Draft class, and not limited to wherever the Kings land in the May 10 draft lottery.
We're focusing on the latter here in a big way.
March Madness has delivered high drama, upsets and intriguing NBA Draft prospects. We've mentioned Darryn Peterson of Kansas and Zuby Ejiofor of St. John's as two who raised their draft stocks during the first two rounds.
There are eight games total left in the NCAA Tournament. But here are two that the Kings and their fans must lock in on, for the sake of figuring out their 2026 rookie class.
Arizona vs. Arkansas
San Jose's SAP Center is the location for this heavyweight battle in the West Regional.
Forward Koa Peat of Arizona is one who impressed during his March Madness debut Friday against Long Island. Peat rose as a possible consideration for the Kings off his post ability, especially as a scorer.
Peat is an inside-the-paint punisher for his baskets. He's got excellent handles for the basketball too and displays strong control, leading to a lack of turnovers on his end. But Kings fans will be impressed by his defensive acumen, as Sacramento needs help on that end of the floor moving forward.
Darius Acuff is the other freshman to watch here. The Razorbacks star has emerged as John Calipari's newest elite sharpshooter. Acuff is a shot creator and has proven to excel with the game on the line...a la the High Point game from Saturday.
Acuff is suddenly garnering his own top pick of the draft hype. There's even Kings fans who hope to see Acuff light the beam in the future.
Duke vs. St. John's
Arguably the most anticipated Sweet 16 matchup here.
Kings fans have watched Cameron Boozer as a possibility for No. 1. However, Boozer has endured slow starts in the first two games of the tourney along with the Blue Devils. Fans will wonder what version of Duke will they get in Washington D.C.
The Red Storm are red-hot, meanwhile. Legendary head coach Rick Pitino has Ejiofor as the latest NBA Draft prospect thriving under him. Bryce Hopkins is one more versatile big who could appeal as well, thanks to his ability to shoot long range and clamp down on defense.
Got a strong feeling the winner of the Blue Devils-Red Storm will eventually head to the Final Four.
