Six collegiate standouts descend on Sacramento as the Kings evaluate potential second-round fits, seeking high-volume scoring and interior size to bolster their roster via the upcoming draft.
The Sacramento Kings have announced the next six draft prospects they are hosting pre-draft workouts for on Thursday, featuring three guards, a forward and two centers.
Going through the pre-draft workout process gives Sacramento a good idea of what prospects could offer the Kings if drafted or signed as undrafted free agents. The Kings have two second-round picks — Nos. 34 and 45 — and players are aiming to impress and become one of those two picks.
Listed below are the six prospects, and key information about their skill sets and college careers.
Chase Ross, Guard, Marquette
Ross is a 6-foot-5 guard who spent all four seasons playing for the Golden Eagles. He averaged 14.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists across 32 games.
The Dallas, Texas, native improved every season at Marquette. Ross averaged 4.6 points in 16.4 minutes in his freshman campaign, increased to 6.1 points in 21.8 minutes in his sophomore season and 10.5 points in 30.3 minutes during his junior year.
Reese Dixon-Waters, Guard, San Diego State
Dixon-Waters is a 6-foot-5 guard who played at Southern California for three seasons and San Diego State for two seasons. He averaged 13.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists across 32 games for the Aztecs.
The Long Beach, California, native started making a name for himself in his last season with USC. Dixon-Waters averaged 9.8 points in the 2022-23 season before transferring to San Diego State.
He maintained the same performance in the 2023-24 season for the Aztecs. The 6-foot-5 guard then blossomed into the lead scorer in his last season.
Jaylin Sellers, Guard, Providence
Sellers is a 6-foot-5 guard who has played for three programs: Ball State, UCF and Providence. He’s a high-volume scorer and is a knockdown shooter.
The Columbus, Georgia, native averaged 18.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists in his lone season with the Friars. Sellers has shot 39.2% from three-point range throughout his collegiate career, cementing him as a reliable shooter.
Chris Bell, Forward, California
Bell is a 6-foot-7 forward who spent three seasons at Syracuse before transferring to California. He averaged 14.2 points and 2.6 rebounds for the Golden Bears in his lone season.
The Concord, California, native is another reliable shooter, like Sellers. He nailed 38.7% of his 4.9 threes throughout his college career.
Jalen Washington, Center, Vanderbilt
Washington is a 6-foot-10 center who spent three seasons at North Carolina before transferring to Vanderbilt. He averaged 8.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in his lone season with the Commodores.
The Gary, Indiana, native spent two seasons playing under 10 minutes at North Carolina. Then, he became a crucial bench piece for the Tar Heels in his final season, starting 16 games when needed.
Rafael Castro, Center, George Washington
Castro is a 6-foot-11 center who spent two seasons at Providence and George Washington each. He averaged 15.3 points, 9.1 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in his final season with the Revolutionaries.
The Dover, New Jersey, native ranked 40th in total rebounds last season and turned into a defensive stalwart at George Washington. Castro averaged 1.6 blocks and 1.5 steals across two seasons with the Revolutionaries.
