5 Takeaways From Stunning Kings win Over Lakers cover image

Lots to like if you're a Kings fan. Here are five takeaways from the 124-112 win.

The night time sky lit up in California's state capitol before 9:30 p.m. PT -- signifying the Sacramento Kings pulling an upset.

Fresh off pounding the Houston Rockets on Sunday night, the Kings stunned the visiting Los Angeles Lakers 124-112 on Monday evening

Sacramento is now 2-0 during this seven-game home stand. But now creates its first winning streak since Nov. 23.

The Kings fanbase has a lot to like from this win over the annual Pacific Division rival. But we can think of five big takeaways here.

1 -- Malik Monk raising his value?

Monk came off the bench and became red-hot out the gate.

He dropped 26 points in 32 minutes -- including seven made threes.

But is he thriving off borrowed time with the Kings? Monk still surfaced as a trade candidate before Christmas. And he got mobbed by his Sacramento teammates.

Still, a performance like that has the potential to raise his trade value ahead of February's trade deadline.

2 -- DeMar DeRozan Goes at LeBron James

The veteran and the four-time NBA champion have delivered plenty of battles.

Monday, though, saw the 35-year-old version of DeRozan relentlessly attack James. He even earned the honor to light the beam.

DeRozan banked one midrange shot while James was in his face. He finished with a team-high 32 points -- which now becomes his fourth 30-point game this season.

3 -- Sacramento's big percentage

Sacramento didn't just shoot the lights out. The Kings nearly hit 70% on the night.

The Kings delivered an astonishing 65% shooting evening from three-point land.

Zach LaVine and Russell Westbrook joined Monk in nailing multiple threes (three and four).

4 -- Flaws remain here

The Kings still got out-rebounded on the evening.

L.A, grabbed 39 boards compared to the 32 Sacramento collected.

The Lakers also scored 58 points in the paint compared to 46 on the Kings' side.

5 -- Does Keon Ellis now leave?

Christie noticeably has swapped between Monk and Ellis when it comes to bench minutes.

The latter, though, earned 12 minutes and settled for three points.

Like Monk, Ellis is another hearing trade thoughts across the league. Sacramento doesn't look like it'll keep both. But they can enjoy this win over the Lakers before hosting the New York Knicks on Wednesday.
