This offseason the Sacramento Kings have made a few moves, but most of the noise this offseason has come from the trade rumors surrounding center Domantas Sabonis.

It is possible that the Kings and Sabonis could part ways through a trade, however he is still on the roster at this point and he could make a key impact for Sacramento during the 2026 season.

So, let's take a look at three ways that Sabonis could benefit the Kings this season.

One of the biggest things that Sabonis can help the Kings with in 2026 is his ability to mentor the young talent on this roster. In the front court, the Kings have some solid young talent such as center Maxime Raynaud, who is hoping to make a solid second-year leap and could benefit greatly from Sabonis' 11 years of NBA experience.

Last season, Raynaud actually had to step in for Sabonis as the veteran was dealing with injuries throughout the year, but if Sabonis can stay healthy in 2026 that could help Raynaud to learn from one of the NBA's more consistent centers.

Raynaud is still figuring out what works in the NBA, and at the center position if Sabonis can be a mentor for Raynaud and teach him how to rebound, finish through contact, as well as simply how to prepare successfully as an NBA player that could be a massive benefit to the Kings in 2026 but also moving forward.

The second way for Sabonis to benefit the Kings in 2026 is for him to utilize his versatile offensive skill set to complement the backcourt. At the center position, Sabonis has the ability to score and rebound the ball well, but also he brings great playmaking and the ability to set solid screens which are two things he could use to really help the Kings' guards.

In 2025, Sabonis put his offensive skill set on display as he averaged 15.8 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game, and while Sabonis did only play 19 games as a result of injuries, his skill set was able to help create easy looks for others and could very well do the same thing in 2026.

So, heading into 2026, if Sabonis can stay healthy and continue utilizing his versatile skill set on offense, he could help the Kings to become one of the more well-rounded offensive teams in the NBA.

Lastly, Sabonis can provide consistency in the front court for the Kings during the 2026 season. Other than last year, Sabonis has been very available and healthy, as he has played at least 62 games in every other season of his career. With a team like the Kings that is mixed with veterans and young talent, having consistency, especially in the front court, is critical.

For the Kings to be able to take a step forward, it will be critical for the entire roster to stay healthy, but the veterans in particular because they need to be able to help elevate this team as the young talent progresses, and Sabonis is a major part of that veteran core.

With that said, as the Kings head into the 2026 season, if Sabonis can stay healthy and provide consistency in the front court at center that could be huge for the Kings to take a step forward and possibly be much more competitive than they were in 2025.
