Domantas Sabonis reacted uniquely to his Sacramento Kings return.
Sabonis delivered 13 points in 21 minutes to spark Sacramento's fourth straight victory -- this time over the Washington Wizards on Friday. It became his first game back in nearly two months following a partially torn meniscus in his left knee.
But his play wasn't the only reaction on his end. He dropped a John Wick hype film to commemorate his return.
In the film, Wick is known for saying the following phrase:
"People keep asking me if I'm back and I haven't really had an answer. But yeah, I'm thinking I'm back!"
Sabonis clearly channeled that Wick relentless energy.
Yes, he came off the bench for the first time since 2022. Plus he missed 27 total games. But he looked every bit like the starter he was.
Sabonis hit a layup and then added a left-handed slam dunk in transition -- both sparking an astonishing 19-2 run to close out the first half for Sacramento. His fiery energy and play spearheaded a 41-22 halftime lead at the Golden 1 Center in Downtown Sacramento.
His head coach Doug Christie certainly was pleased to see how efficient and explosive his once injured big looked.
"His energy was good,” Christie said to reporters postgame. “He ran the floor well. He looked really good."
Christie admitted, though, that Sabonis looked a little out-of-breath on occasion.
"I thought he got a little gassed in my opinion at one point, but fantastic," he said.
Sabonis also dropped an honest take after the defeat.
"I’m just happy I was able to play tonight,” Sabonis said. “You really miss it when you’re gone for so long. It felt amazing."
He shouted out the home crowd as well.
"I want to give credit to all the fans. They brought the energy," he said. "We went out there and played our game, and you could feel it tonight. It definitely was a lot of fun.”
In his absence, rookie Maxime Raynaud stepped up as a starter and became the top interior presence. Raynaud established himself as a double-double threat on the floor as well as defensive stopper. Raynaud still earned the start over Sabonis against Washington and during this four-game winning streak.
Sabonis, though, entered the game when Sacramento was barely up 22-20. His energy clearly sparked the Kings -- before he went "John Wick" on social media and extended the Kings' winning streak.
