A late-season surge and elite shooting efficiency have this 6-foot-10 Seminole climbing draft boards as Sacramento evaluates his potential to provide size and spacing.
The Sacramento Kings' second wave of pre-draft workouts was announced earlier this week, with multiple college standouts scheduled for closer looks.
I recently covered two of these prospects, Arkansas' Trevon Brazile, and Illinois' Kylan Boswell, who are both projected late in the second round.
In this profile, I will highlight Florida State forward Chauncey Wiggins, another player scheduled to workout with Sacramento.
Capitalizing On Momentum
The Seminoles were one of the hottest teams in the country towards the end of last season, winning 10 of their last 13, and nearly knocking off Duke in the ACC Tournament.
Wiggins was a big reason for this success, stepping up his level of play during FSU's run.
In his final ACC regular season game of the year, Wiggins scored a season-high 31 points against SMU, making 10-of-14 shot attempts and 6-of-8 triples.
Wiggins carried this efficiency into the tournament, making 10-of-17 field goal attempts over the Seminoles' two-game run.
The 6-foot-10 senior forward had multiple streaks of double-digit scoring throughout the season, showing his ability to carry success over a multiple-game stretch.
Efficient Game Style
Wiggins plays within himself, looking for high-level shot attempts rather than forcing difficult ones.
After three years at Clemson, Wiggins recorded career highs in points (13.3), rebounds (3.9), and field goal percentage (47.9) in Tallahassee, while also improving his 3-point shooting to 38.7-percent.
Wiggins also shot a career-best 85.1-percent from the free-throw line, jumping nearly 20 percentage points from his freshman campaign.
Areas For Improvement
While Wiggins was a much-improved foul shooter, he didn't get there as much as expected for a player with his size.
Thanks to his 3-point shooting, players are forced to close out to Wiggins, making his secondary moves more available.
When attacking inside of the arc, Wiggins needs to utilize his solid frame and find more ways to the charity stripe.
Wiggins also needs to improve as a defender, as he had multiple five-game stretches without a steal or block.
Draft Projection
Wiggins is currently viewed as a late second-round prospect, but has not appeared on many mock draft boards.
However, Wiggins' combination of 3-point shooting and size makes him an intriguing player to keep an eye on, especially if he falls out of the top 60.
Are Kings a Fit?
Wiggins would fit on nearly any team looking to improve perimeter shooting and get bigger in the front court, which Sacramento could definitely use.
