Boasting a high-efficiency interior game and elite athleticism, this Gamecock guard lands on Sacramento's radar as a potential developmental asset for the Stockton Kings backcourt.
The Sacrmento Kings have two second-round picks -- Nos. 34 and 45 -- expanding the range of prospects to choose from in the 2026 NBA Draft in six days.
Lorenzo J. Reyna and Matthew Feldman of the KingsRoundtable have covered various prospects who are likely second-round picks: Tennessee's Ja'Kobi Gillespie, Purdue's Braden Smith and Arkansas' Trevon Brazile.
Wednesday's profile will feature South Carolina guard Kobe Knox. He is the younger brother of Kevin Knox and completed a pre-draft workout with the Kings.
Efficient Inside the Arc
Knox shot 58% from inside the three-point line in his senior campaign with the Gamecocks. The 6-foot-5 guard attacked poor closeouts or used a quick first step to get by a defender with the help of a screen.
He has a variety of finishes in his arsenal and can finish through contact at the rim. Knox can also rise over the defender for a floater or mid-range jump shot when they cut off his driving line.
Willing and Confident Shooter
The Tampa, Florida, native is not afraid to take wide-open threes. Knox shot 31.1% from beyond the arc, which is below league average, but the confidence is a positive sign.
When he knocks down threes, it forces sagging defenders to close out, which creates an advantage for him to attack the rim. His jump-shooting arsenal isn't limited to wide-open shots; Knox can quick-fire three-point attempts if he's under pressure.
Areas of Concern
Three-point shooting is an obvious concern for Knox. There is an awkward flick at the end of his shooting motion at times, making his form inconsistent. Working with a shooting coach would help solve that issue.
Another concern is his lack of shot creation. Knox does a good job attacking in spurts -- closeouts, coming off screens or in the fast break -- but tightening his handle can expand his offensive skill set.
Draft Range
Sacramento has an early and mid-second round pick, but Knox is not a prospect within that range. He hasn't appeared in many mocks, suggesting he's a primary undrafted free agent.
The South Carolina guard did complete a pre-draft workout with the Kings, meaning he's on their draft radar.
Are Kings a Fit?
It's unlikely Knox fits with Sacramento. The organization has Nique Clifford and Devin Carter -- two young guards -- and they will likely choose a guard with the No. 7 pick next week.
He'd likely spend most of his time on the Stockton Kings -- Sacramento's G League affiliate.
