The Sacramento Kings masterfully delivered one of their better performances of the 2025-26 season -- stunning Miami on the road Saturday.
Yet the 127-111 romp in the 305 region has a pair of South Florida writers believing this Kings roster will still blow up.
George Eichorn and Scott Morganroth of the South Florida Tribune believe Scott Perry and Sacramento will still make changes -- or pull off a "fire sale" as Eichorn coined it.
"This team has fire sale written all over it," Eichorn said. "They're going to get what they can for all of their stars and I don't see them sticking around past the trade deadline."
The belief is the Kings want to get younger and acquire draft picks. All the more reason names like Russell Westbrook, Domantas Sabonis, and DeMar DeRozan face a nebulous future in the state capitol of California.
Eichorn even believes there's still little chance that Zach LaVine stays on board -- despite exploding with 42 points against the Heat in delivering his best scoring output of the season.
LaVine has heard constant trade chatter along with the aforementioned veterans. Perhaps his huge scoring night can indicate he can score at will even in his 30s.
Still, Eichorn believes Perry will build the roster with future rookies and not veterans.
"Their GM did a wonderful job with the Knicks. They're going to make personnel moves...and probably mess those ups," Eichorn said.
He adds Sacramento remains in a bad state amid its 6-17 start featuring three road wins.
"It's rotten to the core. It's rotten from the inside out," he said.
Perry has one young talent he can build around moving forward. Second round pick Maxime Raynaud is stepping up as a new double-double option. Raynaud is even pushing for starting status, as head coach Doug Christie pointed out nearly two weeks ago.
The former Stanford Cardinal star scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the rout of the Heat. But first rounder Nique Clifford showed Perry and Christie he's got building block stardom written all over him -- scoring a season-best 15 on Saturday. Clifford and Raynaud give optimism for Sacramento's future.
Keegan Murray is another who remains an asset as a 2022 NBA Draft pick to Sacramento. Murray continues to show his worth after scoring 16 on Miami. He's also improved his points per game to 16.4 this season while also upping his rebounds to 7.1.
