The Sacramento Kings are yet to notch a victory, but rookie point guard Darius Acuff Jr. had a great showing. Setting the franchise mark for most points in a game by a teenager, Acuff poured in 33, leading all players.

After a disappointing NBA debut, No. 7 overall pick Darius Acuff Jr. led the Sacramento Kings in scoring on Friday night, pouring in 33 points.

Acuff did a great job of playing with pace, finding advantages in the in-between and mid-range.

His ability to play at different speeds and get into his jump shot quickly and effectively allows Acuff to take advantage of different coverages in two-man actions and pick-and-rolls.

His performance marked the highest single-game scoring output from a teenager in Kings franchise history, beating out the rest of his class to the first 30-point outing.

Following the game, Acuff was asked about his stellar night, where he once again reiterated his main focus.

"It was good, but it don't matter," Acuff said. "We lost. Nothing I want more than to win, so everything I do is fine, but if we don't get the win, it really don't matter."

The Kings were within striking distance late in the fourth quarter, but were unable to close out a victory.

Nevertheless, Acuff's bounce-back showing is a great sign of things to come, while he continues to look comfortable alongside former NBA All-Star big man Domantas Sabonis.

Sabonis, who was the Kings' top player from Game 1, once again shined, recording his first triple-double of the season (27 points, 19 rebounds, 10 assists).

After Sabonis talked about getting more touches following just five made shots in the season opener, he got his wish, looking more aggressive and serving as Sacramento's offensive intiator.

Acuff's ability to find space and manipulate ball screens fits perfectly alongside Sabonis' ability to play make out of the short-roll and crash the glass.

Through the opening two games, Sabonis is leading the NBA with 18.5 rebounds per game and could be on his way to a third NBA rebounding title.

As the season continues, having Acuff and Sabonis clicking will be crucial for the team's overall success.

Although it has not yet translated to a victory, Acuff's continued focus on winning and growth is a great sign.

Prior to his debut in front of the Sac Town faithful, Acuff took the mic and made a promise to his new fanbase.

"We're gonna compete, we're gonna work hard every game," Acuff said. "And we're going to play for y'all."

The Kings remain at home Sunday night for a showdown with the 2-0 Memphis Grizzlies.

Acuff will have his hands full on the defensive end, as Grizzlies point guard Ty Jerome has gotten off to a fast start, averaging 36.5 points per game.
