The Arkansas standout silenced size critics with impressive measurables while vowing to sharpen his defensive edge, positioning the dynamic three-level scorer as a potential franchise-altering superstar.

Following his performance at the NBA Draft Combine, standout Arkansas point guard Darius Acuff Jr. spoke to the media, where he highlighted what he will bring to his future franchise, possibly the Sacramento Kings.

"Definitely a superstar point guard," Acuff said. "I'll bring a lot of excitement to any city I go."

Acuff has been a popular target in sports media and mock drafts for the Kings, with the first-team All-American continuing to improve his stock following his impressive measurables and shooting during the combine.

Previously, size concerns had been the main question mark with Acuff, but he measured in well, standing at 6-foot-2 with a 6'7" wingspan.

The Athletic's Sam Vecenie highlighted some of these concerns in a pre-lottery mock.

"Even though Acuff is stocky and strong, he’s easily the worst defender among the top-10 prospects," Vecenie wrote. "He struggles to get through screens and shows a lack of off-ball engagement too regularly. Of course, in the NBA, volatile scorers like Acuff can overcome defensive struggles with lighting up the offensive end, but he will need to improve defensively in order to stay on the court and out of foul trouble."

Acuff outlined whether he thinks his impressive wingspan would quiet some of the doubts about his defensive abilities and size.

"To be honest with you, I don't really care… People are going to always have opinions… I know I want to play defense… I do feel like I need to pick up my defense," Acuff said. "So I'm gonna do it."

Acuff's a true 3-level scorer, possessing the ability to find and create an open shot from anywhere on the court.

But, his defense is an area he needs to focus on, which he has frequently emphasized as a main focus of his.

While the defense will be a work in progress, Acuff has separated himself as one of the most dynamic scoring guards in recent memory, receiving high praise from Texas head coach Sean Miller.

"In my time -- and I'll just go 34 years -- I've never seen a point guard better," Miller said. "People talk about who's going to be the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft or who's the best player in the conference. ... This No. 1 pick thing, I don't know why people aren't talking about him more. I can't imagine anybody better."

With high expectations, Acuff had a simple answer about what he defines success as, saying he wants to be a superstar at the next level.

"A lot of accolades. Being on a winning team. It starts with the PG."

After finishing within the bottom 5 of the NBA, the Kings are still looking for their lead guard of the future.

Acuff would instantly fill that role, possessing the ability to score at a high clip and get his teammates involved.

After a strong combine performance and confident statements about his career, Acuff will likely continue to gain momentum as being one of the two best guards in the class.
