The Sacramento Kings head into the 2026-2027 season with a solid roster that could help this team to take a step forward from a season ago, as this team went 22-60 and placed 15th in the Western Conference.

To take that step forward it's going to take improvement on both ends of the floor from the Kings, but in particular one the offensive end so Sacramento can match opposing teams when they go on runs.

With that said, it is time to project the top three scorers for the Kings for the 2026-2027 NBA season.

1. Zach LaVine, Guard

To start, I believe that Zach LaVine will lead the Kings in scoring. This projection is for a variety of reasons, but it is mainly because of LaVine's ability to score on all three levels, as well as the fact that he is a solid NBA veteran.

Last season, LaVine led the Kings in scoring as he averaged 19.2 points per game and was quite efficient as he shot 47.9 percent from the field, 39 percent from three, and 88 percent from the free-throw line.

It is important to note that LaVine only played 39 games in 2025 due to a right-hand injury that required season-ending surgery, so while he was the top scorer for the Kings last season, he does need to be healthier.

So, heading into the 2026 season, as long as LaVine can stay healthy, he should be able to continue being effective as a scorer and could very well get back to averaging 20 points per game, which may give him the opportunity to be the top scorer on the Kings once again.

2. Darius Acuff Jr., Guard

As the second leading scorer for the Kings, I project rookie guard Darius Acuff Jr., whom the Kings drafted at No. 7 overall in the 2026 NBA Draft after he played for the Arkansas Razorbacks.

During the 2025 season, Acuff averaged 23.5 points per game, which ranked No. 3 in the country, and he had solid efficiency with shooting splits of 48.4 percent from the field, 44 percent from three, and 80.9 percent from the free-throw line.

As a guard at the collegiate level, Acuff showcased the ability to score at all three levels which is a great sign for a player looking to make the jump from college to the NBA.

With that in mind, I project that Acuff will make the change to the professional level in terms of his scoring, and because of where the Kings are at as a team and the fact that Acuff is expected to be in the starting lineup, he could very well get to a 20 points per game average just like he did in college.

3. Domantas Sabonis, Center

As the third leading scorer on the team, I project center Domantas Sabonis, who had a solid showing in 2025, but he was limited to 19 games because he had a partial tear in his left meniscus. Regardless of the injury, Sabonis was able to be the team's third-leading scorer in 2025, which bodes well for his performance in 2026 as long as he stays healthy.

In 2025, Sabonis averaged 15.8 points per game and was fairly efficient from the field, shooting 54.3 percent, and was also solid from the free-throw line, as he converted 72.7 percent of his attempts. Sabonis did shoot 18.5 percent from three, but he is still working on that element, and it is not really a major part of his game.

As a scorer, Sabonis excels more at posting up on the block and scoring in the paint as well as shooting floaters, and he can extend to the mid-range area as well. Overall he is very effective on the interior which gives Sacramento a great presence at the rim.

As Sabonis, heads into the 2026 season, if he can continue to be effective on the interior I project that he will finish as a top three scorer for the Kings and will be a solid presence on the interior for Sacramento.
