Scott Perry Acknowledges the Kings Will Explore the Trade Market cover image

The Sacramento general manager didn't hesitate to reveal that the Kings won't be quiet before the league's trade deadline.

Multiple NBA teams will be hearing Sacramento Kings general manager Scott Perry on the other line soon.

That's because he's not ignoring any trade possibilities -- as he revealed to Sactown Sports 1140 AM Wednesday.

"The one thing that Kings fans can rest assured of is that we’ll be working the phones,” the GM said on the radio airwaves. “We’re going to be opportunistic and prudent where we need to be, and if there’s something that makes sense for us that aligns with our vision and goal.”

For weeks, Kings fans have heard the "T" word with the deadline still two months away. Many analysts and fans threw suggestions at the Kings -- including rearranging their own roster.

Domantas Sabonis is one name attached to trade rumblings. The big is currently nursing a meniscus tear but is reportedly unhappy with his role. A trade means dumping the team's top rebounder while also clearing cap space.

But Sabonis isn't the only one hearing trade talks. Small forward DeMar DeRozan rose as another possibility -- with the report he was interested in the Los Angeles Clippers. Such a deal sends the Compton native back to the Los Angeles region where he starred at Compton High then USC before embarking on his NBA career.

Malik Monk is one increasingly becoming trade material. Monk back on Dec. 3 dropped 25 points in the rout of the Houston Rockets. However, he scored three and zero points in his last two games.

Another name that rose is Keon Ellis. Many fans, even local media outlets near the franchise, have grown confused about why the versatile player isn't earning a lot of action. He's even averaging only 16.3 minutes per game (earned 24.4 last season).

But does Perry acknowledge that Ellis will be moved?

"(Ellis) exemplifies the six pillars that you guys have heard me talk about when I talk about being competitive, tough, team-oriented, accountable, professional, and disciplined,” he said. “We like Keon Ellis here.”

Perry is letting it be known Ellis is off limits. Although Zach LaVine may not be -- as the 30-year-old is another the NBA realm believes he'll wear another uniform sometime this season.

Perry is making these trade inquiries amid the Kings' slow start. Sacramento is currently 6-18 overall and owns one of the worst records this season. Perry will need to find talent to help his rookie class, Keegan Murray, even Russell Westbrook who's led Sacramento on the scoring end multiple times this season.
