Is New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson the next face of the NBA?
When it comes to the next face of the NBA, it feels like there hasn't been one clear answer. For the past few decades, that answer was always clear, whether it was Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, or Steph Curry.
Now, in this new era of competitive parity, there isn't a superstar with multiple championships. While many would say Victor Wembanyama would be the next face of the league, NBA commissioner Adam Silver may have a different idea in mind - a member of the New York Knicks.

Adam Silver Gives Massive Praise to Jalen Brunson
While speaking on the Pat McAfee Show, NBA commissioner Adam Silver was asked about who he believed were the next faces of the league. Immediately, Silver gave props to Jalen Brunson.
"It's hard not to start with Jalen Brunson," Silver said. "Here's a guy who, second-round pick, was picked up as a free agent from Dallas and nobody talked about him as the next superstar in the league, but look at how he's led that team to a championship with Karl-Anthony Towns of course. Look at OG, look at the team they played, San Antonio Spurs."
Brad Penner-Imagn ImagesIt's hard to disagree with what Silver is saying from the standpoint that Jalen Brunson is the best player on the best NBA team, which is also the most popular team in the world. One could easily argue that Brunson isn't the best player in the world, but right now, he's the king of the mountain and the reigning NBA Finals MVP.
Jalen Brunson's Qualifications
Last season with the New York Knicks, Brunson averaged 26.0 points, 6.8 assists, and 3.3 rebounds on 47/37/84 shooting from the field. While his numbers don't stand out as the best player in the league, his ability to close in the clutch was among the absolute best. Despite finishing 5th in Clutch Player of the Year voting, Brunson deserved higher.
It was in the playoffs, however, that Brunson figured out a way to perform even higher. During Brunson's championship run, he averaged 28.4 points, 6.1 assists, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.2 steals on 47/36/85 shooting from the field. He averaged a whopping 10.1 shots per game and carried the Knicks' offense at times, while also taking clutch shots.
Regardless of whoever fans believe is the face of the NBA, the fact that Brunson has Adam Silver's seal of approval is massive. It validates that he's one of the greatest second-round picks in NBA history, and that his choice to take a paycut with the Knicks was all worth it. By all metrics, Jalen Brunson's NBA career is a massive success, and he should be proud.
