Andre Drummond says it's an honor to play for the New York Knicks.

This offseason, the New York Knicks were not a team that was looking to acquire new talent for the roster after winning the NBA Championship in June. They prioritized keeping in-house free agents, but they did add one notable new face.

The Knicks could not agree to a new deal with center Mitchell Robinson this offseason, and to replace him, the front office signed Andre Drummond, who was previously with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Drummond plays a similar role to Robinson, as he's a player who can control the interior on both ends of the floor. Last season, Drummond averaged 6.4 points per game and 8.4 rebounds. With the 76ers, he came off the bench, and he will likely come off the bench again for the Knicks this season.

Recently, Andre Drummond was asked what it meant for him to play for New York this season, and it is very personal to him. Drummond said that he grew up a Knicks fan and admired franchise legends like Patrick Ewing and Amar'e Stoudemire.

He went on to say that there have been multiple great players who have come through and played for this organization, so for him it's an honor to suit up for the New York Knicks.

Looking ahead to next season, Andre Drummond may be more important to this rotation than most think. For several seasons, Mitchell Robinson became one of the most underrated big men in the NBA and was one of the foundational pieces for this team.

He came up with timely offensive rebounds and timely defensive plays and was known to play his role at a high level with the Knicks. Adding a player like Drummond makes the transition away from Robinson much easier.

Drummond has been that kind of player his entire career, and while his numbers have dropped in recent seasons, he still has the capability to be a solid piece off the bench for a contending team that needs interior presence.

Andre Drummond also has the capability to spread the floor. In recent years, he has developed a three-point shot and has been reliable from beyond the arc. Last season, he shot 35.6 percent from long range, and if he can bring that element of his game to New York, the Knicks could be very productive off the bench.

It seems that Drummond's morale is high going into this season, and if he can have a productive season, it would give the Knicks a big lift.
