Deuce McBride has proven to be a solid option as a starter and off the bench this season for the New York Knicks.
The guard, who is in the fifth season of his NBA career, has contributed where needed, and has had important outings scoring-wise for his team when they have needed it most – especially when dealing with OG Anunoby’s left hamstring injury, which kept him out for nine games.
Over the last six games, especially, McBride has been on somewhat of a heater with regard to his shooting from the field and from 3-point range.
In his last six outings, McBride has averaged 16.3 points per game, scoring 19 points against the Charlotte Hornets on Nov. 26 and Milwaukee Bucks on Nov. 28, 14 points against the Toronto Raptors on Nov. 30, nine points against the Boston Celtics on Dec. 2, 15 points against the Hornets on Dec. 3, and 22 points against the Jazz on Dec. 5.
In the month of December, he has shot 53.8% from the field and 59.1% from beyond the arc.
“I don’t pay attention to the numbers,” McBride said in a postgame interview. “I have no clue. I just want to do whatever I can do to help the team win, trusting God in the process.”
McBride went on to say that he doesn’t feel that he’s in some sort of special groove as of late in terms of his strong shooting performances
“Y’all are telling me the numbers,” McBride added. “I’m just out there. My teammates are doing a great job of finding me. It feels natural.”
New York has won six of its last seven games, and are in good standing in the Eastern Conference with the current number two spot.
The Knicks have five games against the Orlando Magic, Toronto Raptors, Indiana Pacers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Miami Heat, respectively, before hosting the Cleveland Cavaliers on Christmas.
This will be an important stretch coming up for New York, as if it can secure some wins during this slate, especially against teams like the Raptors and Magic – who are only one game and one and a half games, respectively, behind the Knicks in the Eastern Conference standings – then the team will be in a solid position heading into 2026, and from there, the back half of the season.
