The Knicks catch a break in the injury report for the January 2nd showdown against the Hawks.

Coming off a loss to the San Antonio Spurs on New Year's Day, the New York Knicks will look to bounce back as they welcome the Atlanta Hawks to Madison Square Garden on Friday.

The Knicks, 23-10, sit a game and a half back of the Detroit Pistons for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.

The Hawks, who snapped their seven-game losing streak with a victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday, are tenth in the East with a 16-19 record.

Knicks Injury Report

Josh Hart remains OUT for the Knicks with an ankle injury. He hasn't played since Christmas Day against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Landry Shamet also remains OUT with a right shoulder injury.

Hart was never scheduled to play in the Knicks' recent three-game road trip and was going to be re-evaluated when the team returned to New York on Friday.

Shamet has been out since November 22nd. He is averaging 9.3 points on 42% shooting from three on the season. He has appeared in 15 games, starting six.

Mitchell Robinson has been upgraded to QUESTIONABLE after missing the last two games against the New Orleans Pelicans and San Antonio Spurs. The Knicks have been cautious with Mitchell, listing him with "left ankle injury management."

Knicks head coach Mike Brown said he expects Robinson to play either Friday against the Hawks or Saturday against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Robinson's last game was against the Hawks on December 27, a 128-125 Knicks victory. In 18 minutes off the bench, Robinson had six points, nine rebounds, two steals, and a block.

Karl-Anthony Towns is a new addition to the injury report, showing up as QUESTIONABLE with an illness. Towns has missed only two games all season.

Hawks Injury Report

Trae Young is officially OUT with a right quad contusion. Young has missed the last two games after returning for a four-game stretch at the end of December. He has appeared in only ten games for the Hawks this season.

Young was listed as QUESTIONABLE on January 1st, but was downgraded to OUT on game day.

Young played in the December 27th game against the Knicks, finishing with just nine points on 2-9 shooting and 0-4 from three. He did have ten assists with six turnovers.

In his ten games this year, Young is averaging 19.3 points and 8.9 assists, his lowest numbers since his rookie season. He's shooting a career low 30% from three.

N’Faly Dante is also OUT with a torn ACL. He appeared in four games, but won't return for the rest of the 2025-26 season.
