New York came back from over 20 points down to defeat Golden State.

The New York Knicks were down big against the Golden State Warriors on Sunday, and they had every reason to let this one slip away. Instead, the Knicks did what good teams do. They found a rhythm, and came all the way back to beat the Warriors 110-107 on Sunday night at Madison Square Garden.

Jalen Brunson was the catalyst. He finished with 30 points and nine assists and was at his best when New York needed him most, scoring back-to-back baskets late in the third quarter that gave the Knicks their first lead since the opening minutes of the game.

On nights like this, you trust your superstar to pull you out of the mud and give you a chance at a victory. That's precisely what Brunson was able to accomplish here.

Overcoming A Slow Start

Karl-Anthony Towns did his part as well, finishing with 17 points and 12 rebounds in a performance that quietly kept New York in the game during the stretches when the offense wasn't flowing cleanly.

OG Anunoby and Jordan Clarkson each chipped in 14 points, and Anunoby's free throws with 6.2 seconds remaining effectively sealed the victory.

The Knicks were coming home from a five-game road trip and it showed early. Golden State jumped out to a 35-21 lead after the first quarter and extended the advantage all the way to 21 points in the second half. For long stretches it looked like New York was simply going through the motions.

But this team has enough veteran presence and enough talent to turn things around quickly when the switch flips. The Knicks have been in enough big moments this season to trust their ability to claw back into games, and Sunday night was another example of that resolve paying off.

Taking Care of Business

It's certainly worth noting that Golden State was severely shorthanded in this game. Stephen Curry was out with a knee issue once again, and the Warriors also rested Draymond Green, Kristaps Porzingis, and De'Anthony Melton on the first night of a back-to-back.

Brandin Podziemski led a gutsy effort from the Dubs with 25 points, and Quentin Post had a career night with 22, but New York ultimately had too much firepower.

For the Knicks, this is three wins in a row and the kind of gritty victory that builds character heading into the final stretch of the regular season. Tuesday night Indiana comes to the Garden, and New York will look to keep the momentum rolling.
