New York Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns addresses latest lineup changes

The New York Knicks currently find themselves without OG Anunoby, as the team's star two-way forward has been dealing with a hamstring injury that he suffered against the Miami Heat on November 14th. Due to Anunoby's absence, head coach Mike Brown has experimented with different starting lineups, as the team has gotten hot with their latest one.

Headlined by familiar faces in Karl-Anthony Towns, Jalen Brunson, and Mikal Bridges, the Knicks have inserted Miles McBride and Josh Hart into the starting lineup alongside them. In the four games they've used this starting five, the Knicks are 4-0 and hold the second seed in the Eastern Conference as of December 1st.

    Karl-Anthony Towns Addresses Changes

Amid this success, Towns was asked about the starting lineup change, keeping it simple.

"It's just a different starting lineup...Any one of us could be in the starting lineup and feel like we can contribute and impact winning," Towns said.

The big move was moving Mitchell Robinson to the bench, who's coming off his bench performance of the season against the Toronto Raptors on Sunday with 15 rebounds, seven of those being offensive.

    New Starters Thriving

Before this new starting lineup, McBride had seen some starts when Brunson was sidelined due to injury. But looking just at these past four games with him playing alongside Brunson in the starting five, McBride is averaging 15.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists while boasting impressive shooting splits of 54.1/60.0/100.

McBride is in the second year of his three-year, $13 million contract, which is front-loaded, so he'll only be making $3.9 million next season. Easily one of the best contracts in the NBA, the Knicks are now seeing that they can use McBride not just as a lead backup guard, but also as a complimentary piece to Brunson.

As for Hart, he started in all 77 of his appearances last season and led the league in minutes played per game, but is just now earning his way back into the starting lineup. Through four games for him, he's averaging 17.0 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 7.0 assists while having an impressive 67.0 TS%.

A wildly impressive four-game stretch, it's hard to see Hart continue this type of production, but he's proven over the years that he can will his team to victory when called upon.

Since it isn't broke, the Knicks shouldn't fix it, and they'll look to ride this four-game streak into Boston on Tuesday to face the Celtics, with tip-off set for 8:00 p.m. EST.
