This offseason, teams in the Eastern Conference have been trying to assemble rosters to be on par with the reigning Eastern Conference champions, the New York Knicks. One team that made a big move was the Philadelphia 76ers, who signed LeBron James and added him to an already talented starting lineup. 

James, 41, signed a two-year deal with the franchise and has a player option following the 2026-2027 season. He will be playing alongside players that teams have to gameplan for individually, and Knicks guard Josh Hart believes adding James to the 76ers makes their roster more complex. 

"It fits them very well in terms of [LeBron's] style of play," Hart said. "It adds another piece that we have got to gameplan for."

Josh Hart mentioned how tough it is to go against players like Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid, and how all the attention can go to them. Now with LeBron, there are more opportunities for the 76ers to score in different ways. 

Philadelphia also added former Finals MVP Jaylen Brown, who was traded over from the Boston Celtics this summer. 

What makes Philadelphia more of a threat to New York is that LeBron doesn't have to be the number-one option anymore. Last season with the Los Angeles Lakers, James was more of a third option behind Austin Reaves and Luka Doncic. 

Once Doncic and Reaves went down near the end of the season, James was back to being the focal point of the Lakers, and he led them to a first-round series win over the Houston Rockets.  

There's no question that one of the more intriguing matchups next season is the Knicks and 76ers. Both teams have star-studded lineups and have high expectations set on them. 

While most of the attention is on the 76ers to make it out of the Eastern Conference, New York is still seen as the team to beat because of what they achieved last season and the fact that they didn't lose many key pieces. 

If key pieces like Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns can stay in form and play at their highest level as they did in the postseason, this Knicks team can make it just as far as they did last season. 

One player who will have to make a difference is Josh Hart. If Josh Hart can make an impact on both ends of the floor and defend the likes of VJ Edgecombe and Jaylen Brown, the Knicks can take the head to head matchup over them.
