The New York Knicks have been at the top of their game recently, riding a four-game winning streak into their Tuesday night matchup against the Boston Celtics. After making a run to the Eastern Conference Finals last season, the Knicks will be looking to capitalize on the state of the conference that appears to be in a transition period with key stars sidelined.
Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns remain the leaders of this Knicks team, with Brunson having one of his best seasons while Towns has seen a noticeable dip in his efficiency to start the season. While the Celtics are a different team without Jayson Tatum, the Knicks simply can't overlook them as they have the same record over the past 10 games.
The Knicks' injury report remains small, but their absences are impactful. Both OG Anunoby and Landry Shamet are still OUT for the Knicks as they deal with their respective injuries.
For Anunoby, he last played on November 14th in New York's win over the Miami Heat, where he logged just five minutes before exiting the game. Across the contests he played where he was healthy, he averaged 17.1 points and 5.8 rebounds during that 11 game stretch.
Looking over at Shamet, he was starting to heat up in the five games prior to him leaving the Knicks' November 22nd contest against the Orlando Magic. During that five-game stretch, he averaged 15.2 points on 41.4% shooting from three. That is largely weighted by his 36-point performance against the Miami Heat.
As for the Celtics, the only player listed OUT for them is Jayson Tatum, as the All-NBA forward continues to rehab from his right Achilles injury. While listed on the injury report, both Neemias Queta (ankle) and Derrick White (calf) are listed as AVAILABLE for Boston.
The Knicks' four-game winning streak started once Mike Brown decided to make a change to the starting lineup, inserting Josh Hart and Miles McBride alongside Mikal Bridges, Brunson, and Towns. Hart was a starter all season for the Knicks last year, and his recent performances will make it tough for Brown to keep him off the floor.
As for the Celtics, they've been led by their second-ranked defense and their three top scorers in Jaylen Brown, Payton Pritchard, and Derrick White. With Brown being a threat to drop 30 on any given night and Pritchard having a 42-point performance in his last contest, the Knicks' defense will be an X-Factor in this contest.
Tip-off in Boston is set for 8:00 p.m. EST.
