The New York Knicks had their fan base in panic mode during their four-game losing streak, with many calling for them to blow it up and make a splash trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo. However, it seems as though trade talks have died down as they ride their six-game winning streak into Tuesday night.
During this six-game winning streak, the team has improved its defense significantly, allowing less than 100 points per game. Additionally, they've gotten offensive contributions from across the board, with OG Anunoby, Mikal Bridges, and Josh Hart all stepping up, looking to continue that against the Washington Wizards.
The Knicks are set to be without two of their most important reserves, as Miles McBride (ankle) and Mitchell Robinson (ankle) are both listed as OUT for Tuesday's contest.
It's set to be the fourth-straight missed game by McBride, who played in 15 games after returning from an eight-game absence. In those eight games, he averaged 14.6 points and 3.2 assists on 39.5% shooting from three-point range. In 35 appearances this season, he's shooting 42.0% from three on 12.9 points per game.
As for Robinson, his value comes from his defense and rebounding. Averaging 9.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game, Robinson leads the league in offensive rebounds despite playing less than 20 minutes per night. A perfect compliment to Karl-Anthony Towns, the Knicks will look to Ariel Hukporti and or Trey Jemison III in replacement.
The other two names listed on the injury report are Pacome Dadiet and Kevin McCullar Jr, both of whom are OUT as they are with the G League team, the Westchester Knicks.
The Wizards will be without some key pieces as well, as rookie standout Tre Johnson has been ruled OUT with a left ankle sprain. In addition, Tristan Vukcevic (hamstring), Cam Whitmore (shoulder), and Trae Young (knee) are also OUT.
The last name listed is Anthony Gill, who is listed as AVAILABLE after dealing with a right hand contusion.
The Knicks will be eyeing an extension of their winning streak to seven games, as they'll have three of their toughest games of the season to follow against the Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons, and Boston Celtics.
The two sides faced off already this season, with the Knicks defeating the Wizards 119-102 on November 3rd.
Tip-off on Tuesday at the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC, is set for 7:00 p.m. EST.
