The New York Knicks will try to pick up their first win of the season when they take on the Boston Celtics in Boston on Friday. The game tips off at 7 PM ET and will air on Amazon Prime Video.

The Knicks celebrated their 2026 NBA Championship on Tuesday, hanging the banner and welcoming the Philadelphia 76ers into the Garden. The 76ers ruined the celebration, walking away with a 106-100 victory. Jalen Brunson led the Knicks with 21 points to go along with five rebounds, and three assists, but he did have two turnovers.

The Boston Celtics looked to be well on their way to victory on opening day against the Detroit Pistons, but blew a 20-plus point lead in the second half, losing 121-113. Paul George had 38 points in his Celtics debut.

This is the first meeting between the two teams.

Jaden Akins, Kevin McCullar Jr., and Tyler Nickel are all QUESTIONABLE on G-League two-way contracts.

Otherwise, the Knicks once again have a healthy lineup for Game 2 of the season.

New York started Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, Josh Hart, and Mikal Bridges on opening night. While Brunson had 21 points, Towns finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds; Hart had 14 points; Anunoby had 10 points; but Bridges had just four points on 2-for-8 shooting.

Landry Shamet, Andre Drummond, Jose Alvarado, Miles McBride, and Jordan Clarkson all played more than eight minutes off the bench, and all five players scored at least three points. Drummond led the way with 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Devin Carter is OUT with an illness. He did not play in the season opener against the Pistons. He spent his first two seasons with the Sacramento Kings, who selected him 13th overall in the 2024 draft. He averaged 6.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in 74 career games. He signed a two-way deal with the Celtics in the offseason.

Boston started Jayson Tatum, Derrick White, Paul George, Mitchell Robinson, and Jordan Walsh against the Pistons. While George had 38, Tatum struggled, finishing with 13 points on 6-for-23 shooting. He did have 11 assists. White had 17 points. Robinson, who won a title with the Knicks last season, had four points while Walsh did not score.

Payton Pritchard contributed 17 points off the bench. Neemias Queta, Baylor Scheierman, Sam Hauser, Hugo Gonzalez, and Luka Garca all played more than eight minutes off the bench.
