Knicks vs. Hornets Injury Report in NBA Cup Thanksgiving Eve Showdown cover image

The New York Knicks play visitor to the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night

The New York Knicks will wrap up their five-game road trip on Wednesday night against the Charlotte Hornets. New York is coming off a pivotal 113-100 win against the Brooklyn Nets on Monday night, increasing their season record to 10-6. The Hornets are looking to catch a break amid their six-game losing streak, as they’ve gone 1-9 in their last 10 games.

Before we take a deeper look into tonight’s Thanksgiving Eve matchup, let’s see who’s on the injured list for both teams.

Knicks Injury Report

New York is listing both OG Anunoby and Landry Shamet as OUT with their respective injuries. Anunoby hasn’t traveled with the team in its entirety, leaving his possible return date for Friday, November 28th, against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Shamet continues to remain sidelined, having suffered a shoulder injury last Saturday against the Orlando Magic, a diagnosis the team still hasn’t made public.

Mitchell Robinson is slated to make his return to the lineup, having missed New York's last matchup with an illness.

Hornets Injury Report

The Hornets are listing Grant Williams, Josh Green, and Pat Connaughton as OUT. All three players have been out since the beginning of the season and have yet to log a game for Charlotte thus far. Luckily, LaMelo Ball is off the injured list, as he’s been dealing with ankle management all season long.

Game Overview

Both teams need this win more than anybody else, but for two very different reasons. New York hasn’t looked their best during their road trip, posting a 2-2 record through four games. Karl-Anthony Towns and Jalen Brunson are coming off big performances and would like to keep the ball rolling before heading back home to Madison Square Garden.

Charlotte is simply looking to get one foot out of the mud, having caught a series of unlucky breaks throughout their last few games. Despite Miles Bridges leading the charge offensively, rookie sensation Kon Knueppel has dazzled not just the fans but former players across the league. He’s currently averaging 19.4 points and 5.8 rebounds on 43.8% three-point shooting.

The Knicks are a bottom-five team this season in opponent three-point percentage, and should look to make their key defensive assignment to stop Knueppel from catching fire. Luckily for New York, Charlotte isn’t aggressive on the ball when trying to force turnovers, ranking 30th league-wide. Mike Brown’s fast-paced style of play should keep the Hornets from poking their hands inside.

New York is looking to get their 11th win of the season, while Charlotte is searching for their fifth. Who will come out on top in this NBA Cup matchup?
