Mike Brown liked what he saw from his team against the Memphis Grizzlies.
The New York Knicks went into Wednesday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies looking to revive their identity.
They had just lost three-straight games, including a particularly ugly matchup against the Houston Rockets where the fight seemed to leave the Knicks and after the game left Josh Hart questioning the direction of the team.
Playing Memphis was a chance for the Knicks to reset themselves mentally and they did so with a strong 130-119 win. Three different Knicks scored over 20 points in the game, with OG Anunoby leading the way with 25 points on 8-17 shooting.
Rebounds Everywhere
Great as those scoring performances were, it was the way that the Knicks grabbed boards that sealed the win in had coach Mike Brown's eyes.

"OG [Anunoby] had three offensive rebounds, KAT [Towns] had six offensive rebounds... We needed every single one of those rebounds."
The Grizzlies definitely had the advantage from the charity stripe. Memphis shot 25-30 from the free throw line, buying them some extra points that the Grizzlies needed to stay within striking distance of the Knicks.

Petre Thomas-Imagn ImagesNew York responded by outmatching the Grizzlies in field goal percentage and especially, with rebounding. The Knicks had 49 rebounds to just 20 from the Grizzlies. The Knicks grabbed just as many offensive boards as the Grizzlies had total ones.
Pairing that level of rebounding with the way that the Knicks were shooting the ball is a surefire way to guarantee that points get on the board and that was definitely needed to keep the Grizzlies' own surging offense at bay.
A Bounce-Back Win
Having such a comprehensive winning effort from the entire team is a greta way to boost confidence for the Knicks after they looked to be shaken.
It's the kind of effort that they'll need to keep up in the final few games of the reason and into the playoffs. The way that Karl-Anthony Towns performed, with 20 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists, is possibly the biggest key to their success both in Wednesday's game and beyond.

Petre Thomas-Imagn ImagesWhen they're in a groove, there are few teams better, especially in the Eastern Conference. Wednesday's performance is proof of that and if the Knicks are able to chain together more total-team efforts like they did against the Grizzlies, the Knicks will have far fewer things to worry about when the games matter most.
