The New York Knicks have done a lot of work this offseason to retain as much of their championship roster as possible and despite the limitations that the Knicks imposed on themselves with owner James Dolan firmly declaring that he wouldn't take the team into the second apron, they've been fairly successful. 

They were able to sign Jose Alvarado, Landry Shamet, Jordan Clarkson and Mohamed Diawara to deals, all of which trend towards the team-friendly side of things, while adding veteran center Andre Drummond to replace Mitchell Robinson, the one major free agent that the Knicks did lose when Robinson signed with the Boston Celtics.

Looking at the Knicks near the end of an offseason that could have seriously disrupted their roster, they've remained remarkably whole and seem to be in a good position to run the Eastern Conference, despite the improvements that conference rivals like the Philadelphia 76ers have made, and look to be serious contenders for another championship.

With the roster secured on the free agency front, it may be time to look toward the future and address the players on their roster that are eligible for extensions going forward. 

One such player is Miles "Deuce" McBride who, after the departure of Robinson, is the longest tenured Knick on the time after five seasons with the team, making his debut just one season before star Jalen Brunson arrived in the Big Apple.

McBride is heading into the final season of a three-year contract and is set to make just under $4 million next season, but he's now eligible for a contract extension of up to four years and worth up to $90 million. 

While it's unlikely that McBride will be offered an extension worth that much, the prospect of him adding to his time in New York is intriguing to the 25-year-old guard, as he revealed in an interview with Jonathan Macri, where he shared just how much his time in New York has meant to him.

"I would love it. When I came to New York I didn't know anything about it. I knew it was fast-paced. I came here on an AAU trip when I was like 16 and I couldn't stand the City," McBride said (via NBA_New York on X). "Then I came up here, I see somebody wearing my jersey from West Virginia and, man, to sign that first contract extension, I loved it. And I just feel like, I want to be here. I felt like I've earned it, I've put in a lot of work."

McBride has been through a lot of ups and downs in his time with the Knicks. He missed time early in the season surgery to address a core muscle issue and later suffered a groin injury, but played through both as the season went on and was there for it all as the Knicks tore through the NBA playoffs. 

He's certainly beloved by fans considering that you can hear the Madison Square Garden home crowd sing out his nickname "Deuce" whenever he touches the ball and his skills as a shooter from both the field and beyond the arc make him a valuable asset to have coming off the bench. 

He added that he hops that he and the Knicks can come to an agreement and to see that kind of devotion to one's team is just one of many reasons why the Knicks have built a culture that has made them so successful.
